Affecting change locally while maintaining a global perspective.

One of the driving guidelines behind Burnham Racing is to be a positive force in the communities in which its members reside. Recognizing that we are citizens of the world first and cyclists second, the members of Burnham Racing and the athletes of the Burnham Racing team are asked each season to give something back to the community. In the past, the members of the team have taken part in the Chicago area parks clean-up as well as leading a bike ride to raise cancer awareness.

Continuing the tradition of working with nationally and internationally recognized organizations who are working to affect positive change in the world, Burnham Racing is excited to have the opportunity to work with World Bike Relief and to support its global efforts in providing sustainable transportation to those working in disaster assistance and poverty relief.

This year, members of Burnham Racing and the athletes of the vitaminwater-Trek cycling team are pleased to announce that it will be partnering with Chicago-based organization, World Bicycle Relief and will proudly wear the WBR logo on its team jersey in 2008 and will donate a portion of its race winnings to aid in its goal of providing 23,000 bicycles to aid workers currently working to address the AIDS/HIV crisis in Zambia.

As it has in the past, Burnham Racing will be once again working with Chicago Parks Department's Friends of the Parks program in the protection, preservation, and maintenance of Chicago's historical neighborhood parks, playgrounds and forest preserves.
